on-line: Limited Sources, Boundless Possibilities: Textual Scholarship and the Challenges of Oral and Written Texts

Sakari Katajamäki

RMN Newsletter is an open access bi-annual publication of Folklore Studies (University of Helsinki). Its latest volume is a special issue that combines both folkloristic and textual approaches.

Traditionally folklore studies has generally discussed on the same topics as textually oriented disciplines, but lately dialogues between folklorists and textual scholars have been infrequent in spite of similar methodological challenges and shared historical roots of the disciplines.

Hopefully this special issue will lay foundations for discussions that will resound through future issues of this journal and in other forums.
